| A batch of 50,000 to 200,000 20p coins were accidentally issued with no date on them. The undated British coins were minted at Royal Mint at Llantrisant, near Cardiff. It is likely that these 20 pence coins are the first undated coins from the United Kingdom to circulate since 1662. An article posted by BBC News Online says collectors are saying the coin could be worth £50 (that's currently about $82 USD). A quick check on eBay does not show many of these listed for sale. **CAUTION! There are some clever sellers out there advertising an undated "tails" side of the 2008 20p coin. That is how it was intended. The error is because there is no date on the front of the coin.** You can check out the 20 Pence coins listed here: 20 pence coin without date Coins sold in the last 3 days varied in sale price as low as $150 and peaked at $370. Most were in the $200 range. This puts them at a considerably higher value than the $82 projected value. Edit: There are a few videos showing off the coin on YouTube, I though I'd link one here: 20p coin. None of the videos have any particular information but it's just another way to show off the coin. |
