Denomination: 5 Euro
Year: 2008

The Kingdom of the Netherlands, or just the Netherlands for short, is a small country in Western Europe. It was one of the founding countries of the European Union and one of the first to adopt the Euro coinage. Around the world, the country tends to be referred to as "Holland" which is actually the name of two provinces of the Netherlands.

As a means honor the history of Dutch architecture, the Royal Dutch mint released this commemorative 5 Euro coin. The obverse is a mosaic of notable Dutch architects's names that form the image of Queen Beatrix. The reverse side of the coin shows many architectual books made to look like buildings which happen to form the outline of the Netherlands in the center. In the center silhouettes of birds have been placed in the locations of all the provincial capitals.
