It's been nearly 3 months since the first of the 4 new Lincoln cents was released and in very limited quantities. The supply has been starting to increase and the after market prices are starting to drop.

For those who don't crawl eBay on a regular basis, 2009 Lincoln cents have dropped in price considerably. I had recorded sale ending at $43 for a single 2009 cent back in February and currently it looks like the pennies are now being sold in sets of 4 for under $3. Rolls of 50 that were going as high as $265 are not going for $5-15 depend on if the rolls are stamped. I was also warned to be wary of stamped rolls as the original rolls being released were not officially stamped. Many people went to the local post office and had the rolls stamped (occasionally adding a Lincoln stamp as well). If you were going to buy a roll, I wouldn't recommend paying a premium because it's stamped.

I am really looking forward to 3-4 years from now when I go to a gas station and I see a half dozen 2009 Lincoln cents sitting in the "share a penny" dish. For those that enjoy collecting the colorized coins, there are colorized 2009 Lincoln pennies available on the market:
As I mentioned in a previous post, in 2010 the Lincoln cent will retire the reverse image with the Lincoln Memorial. After 50 years there will be a new image. Various sites report, "the redesign will bear an image that is emblematic of Lincoln's preservation of the United States as a single and united country."
