West of the Ural mountains was Europe and on the other side was Asia. This doesn't fly for the database as it really needs to be one or the other. So I've decided that Russia is in Europe as are all of the former Soviet satellites. Edit: 09/14/09 I decided Europe was more appropriate. Map [ Edited Mon Sep 14 2009, 11:52pm ]

I dont know how hard it would be but maybe if the continent drop down could be renamed to region or something like that then places like central america and the caribean could be added ad others as they arise.

I was confused with how to do Euros originally since there is not a European Union option. I know the obverse side is unique for each country but I believe these are used interchangibly which makes me wonder, should a Euro cent that says Espana be classified under Spain or under the EU? So far I believe we are classifying them under the country that is depicted on the coin.] When I was originally designing the CoinBrag database I had planned for Central America and the Caribbean to be separate regions from North America. Although there are enough countries in the Caribbean to justify it's own section. North and Central America are lacking. North America without the rest is Greenland, Canada, the USA and Mexico. Central America is only 7 countries. Grouping them all together works for now anyway. It would actually be very easy for me to change the continent of all coins from a specific country. So it's something to consider in the future.

All of those are being lumped together as Australia--the continent not the country. I hope I don't have any members from NZ who get upset! I also have a thread dedicated to sticking countries in a region: http://www.coinbrag.com/e107/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?52

I think I put that west african coin under Niger because thats one of the countries that fall under that economic union

The west African coin under Niger works for me for now. I'm not sure where a better spot would be for it just yet. My only concern would be that eventually we could end up with 8 listings for the same coin under 8 countries. But I think we can deal with that when we reach the stage. It's still fairly empty here right now.

The same situation also applies to Turkey in which only a tiny area of its territory is located in Europe & a majority of its territory is located in the Middle East. Aidan.

I felt Turkey was also more Asian than European however the European Union feels differently. Now I've not read many official documents so it's possible being in Europe is not actually a requirement of the EU. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accession_of_Turkey_to_the_European_Union
