I ws sitting there sorting them by country and not very long after my whole desk was covered in stacks of coins. now this would be fine if I worked in any kind of a coin related industry but at a travel agency it looks a bit off :) but since most of my co workers are used to my quirks they just shake thier heads an go on about thier day. anyone else have stories about coins at work?

It was a slow day so I had brought a few thousand coins with me to bag up for the grab bags I sell. They were all foreign coins. The owner's father was from India and he would frequently come by doing small errands for his son. His English was not the best but he was a really nice guy. On this day when he saw that I had this huge pile of coins he inquired about them. So I told him what I was doing and I showed him some Rupee and Paise coins I had from India. He got excited and started inviting me to his home for food and to look at his money collection from India. So the next day I go to my boss's house where his dad lives and he shows me a bunch of different paper currency from India. As I'm admiring all of it, he is putting some aside. After I'm done looking at it all he gives me probably $30 or 40 USD worth of Rupees. I was hesitant to accept but I think he was happier to give them to me than I was to receive them. They are awesome and I still have them put away somewhere in my closet. I've looked at them a few times. Very cool.

I mean if I were planning a trip to Japan, and I saw a 10 yen coin on the desk I'd think "this guy knows what he's talking about!"

I'm impressed your supervisors didn't mind you bringing them. Unless you were on a break at the time. I would think they'd expect you to sit there and twiddle your thumbs until the next call comes through.
