I just finished watching the 4th Spare Change video and I'm posting it here. I've always been a fan of Franklin Half dollars although I do not have very many of them. The best thing that Mark points out in this video is that the Franklin halves are an affordable coin to own. A quick check on eBay shows slabbed mint coins selling in the $20-30 price range.

Some facts about the Franklin Half Dollar:
  • They were minted between 1948 and 1963.
  • They are 90% silver and 10% copper weighing 12.5 grams(that means the silver value is $7.14 while silver is valued at $18 per ounce).
  • Franklin halves were minted at the Philadelphia, San Francisco and Denver mints.
  • 1953 P and 1955 P are the 2 lowest mint runs at only 2.6 and 2.4 million respectively.
