Silver is at a very low price right now--under 10 dollars an ounce. When it was over $15/oz the U.S. mint was having trouble finding enough suppliers to mint 2008 silver eagles.

While the price of silver is down now, I don't imagine those with large supplies are eager to sell.

So is it a great buying opportunity to grab some silver right now? Will silver jump back to $15 or more once the economy stabilizes?

Hmm, would that of an advantage in Europe..no. As with everything else in socialist Europe, the premiums and prices are ridiculous and every law is in place to stop the ordinary joe from making a buck. Here, they would just say 'it's a collectors piece, the price of gold, silver, platinum just doesn't come into it'..sigh.

Here we are just 11 days short of one year since I asked about the value of silver. It's now back at over $16 per ounce. So I guess it would have been a great buy at $10/oz.

kaija,

When you mention the premiums and prices, do you mean the coins or do you mean acquiring the raw bullion itself?

Well silver is $17.50 today and I think that is still cheap. If JP Morgan was held to the same investment criteria as everyone else, they would be in jail or silver would be many times its price today.

$23.26 an ounce today.

Will it hit $25 before the year ends or will it drop below $20 an ounce? It it clears 25, I might have to sell some of my collection. I don't have very much lol

Silver is going up in a huge way over here, but I don't know what the prices of the other precious metals will do.

Silver is looking better and better. Some say it will top $30.00 an once by years end. What do you think? Will it make it. As of this posting 12/01 silver is at $28.31 oz,

I am surprised. I figured it would be back under $15 by the end of the year. Of course I was just guessing and I did not do any research to learn as to why it's risen so much in the last year.

Gold is about to break $1400/oz and now Silver is getting pretty close to $30/oz. It should be interesting.
