As seen as we have got http://www.coinbrag.com ,are you in favour of creating a companion website called http://www.notebrag.com ?

It would be cool to recompile the Pick catalogue as we go listing banknotes.

I'm not a banknote collector myself, but it's a very good idea which I'd support. If Nick finds time to expand his internet empire, it could be the right move.

I'm definitely planning to do a currency version of Coinbrag. I've actually be unsure of sticking with the "brag" theme. I wasn't sure if it really caught on with coinbrag or not. At the same time, I like consistency so sticking with *brag for future sites is likely.

I was hoping to get the new classes finished but from there, I was planning to launch a site for banknotes for sure.

Cloning CoinBrag should be pretty easy. If I went with a site like notebrag then I would just make a copy of all the files for coinbrag, edit each file replacing coinbrag with notebrag. Change mention of coins to banknotes/bills/etc I don't think it would take long to do.

I've been hesitant to do it before the classes though because once I've cloned the site, then once I make improvements to coinbrag, I'll have to revamp the other sites too.

At the same time, we're missing out on seeing some awesome photos of currency so perhaps I'll see what I can't do to get it up and running in the next few weeks.

I'm going to be moving in the next two weeks (I think) so finishing the class system may or may not be done but it is a big priority for me for this site.

Nicholas,
With NoteBrag,we would have to divide it into 3 main sections before being divided into geographical areas;

Banknotes.

Community Currency notes.

Postal Orders.

With postal orders (or 'postal notes' in some countries),I can supply photos of examples from my collection, even for some of the individual states within Malaysia,& the defunct Bantustans of Bophuthatswana,Ciskei,Transkei,& Venda (plus a few of the Remainder Issue postal orders issued after their reincorporation into South Africa in 1994).

Please let me know when you want my advice about how to arrange the information fields for the postal order section.

We could have all 3 of those on one site and have it set up like:

Banknotes/Community/Postal > Continent > Country > Denomination > Year > Mint > Variant

What I'd do to speed up search probably is have 3 links on the top menu so that you could choose between banknotes, community notes and postal orders.

The question I'm needing to know though, is the above sort enough? For any of the types of notes we'd have, would there be something else I'd need to have? When I originally created CoinBrag, I didn't have the "variant" option. It wasn't until I was adding U.S. state quarter coins that I realized each year was going to have 15 coins and my site was only built to add 3 coins. So I added variant so that Delaware and New Jersey could both be added to the 1999 mint.

Nicholas,
Here's a link with a gallery program that I am sure could be very handy; http://www.oecdb.com/ .

You should get in touch with that guy on there to find out where he got the program from.

We could get the images & information imported into the new gallery,& have it on http://www.numisbrag.com with both http://www.coinbrag.com & http://www.notebrag.com being directed to point to the website.

It would be an alternative to having separate websites for both banknotes & coins.

Categorisation could be based along similar lines to what is on http://www.zeno.ru for some countries.

Nicholas,
Yes,he did.

I'm sure you can find out how to buy it,& get it installed on your server.

There are versions for both banknote & coin galleries.

I've downloaded the software. It's not online, it's a desktop application. It looks like the creator also does website design and that's why it shows numisoft at the bottom of the oecdb page.
