Hi all,

My goal for CoinBrag is pretty simple: A page for every coin ever minted. This includes coins of the ancient world. I need some help with this though as I know little about ancient coins.

CoinBrag's database structure is pretty simple:

Continent->Country->Denomation->Year->Mint

I'm thinking this same set up will not work for Ancient coins without being messy and confusing. So I am thinking a separate database would be the best option.

I am interested in the opinion of some ancient coin collectors. I am hoping to catalog: Byzantine, Celtic, Chinese, Greek,Islamic,Medieval,Persian, Indian, Asian, Roman and whatever else I'm leaving out.

I know with Rome there are Imperial, Provincial, and Republic coins. So I'm interested in how I could best sort them out.

This thread is just the beginning of the brain storm.

Thanks!

Ah, such a section would have to be in a gallery style perhaps. Listing by reign of ruler or tribe rather than just say Drachm and Tetradrachm for example. I think a comments section for each entry would be a good idea too. Yes, think t would hve to be much less rigid than the present system to include ancient coins. Probably would not be as difficult as you think.

You could start by sticking up pics of your Roman coins. So you could use them as a test.

I was looking online for some books on old coins but it seems like there's many different ones and no one particular book that covers them all.
