Asian Coin Help

Hey everyone, I have a few Asian Coins from Middle East to the Orient that I have no clue what they say, when they were made, etc.. anyone have a suggestion of where I can find out info on them or can anyone on here know much about them?

Hi,

Do you have an account at photobucket or one of those other places where you can upload the photos?

There's 2 charts you can download here: Arabic and Japanese numbersThose might help you with denominations and dates but if you upload pictures then perhaps we can help you figure out the countries.

Also for dating on some coins, they base the dates on the years the Emperor took office. For instance this year is Heisei 22.

If you look at this Japanese One Yen Coin that kaija added you'll see 6 kanji (characters) beneath the number 1. The 3rd, 4th and 5th kanji show 4 10 6, so that's the 46th year of the Showa era.

Yes, definitely. I know I enjoy the challenges.

Just you asking has made me start thinking about creating our own gallery script for pictures of coins needing to be identified.
